Sessions Description

  • Since Ronald Reagan, the deregulatory agenda has cut back laws and regulations that constrain potentially exploitative lending, worker protections, and monopolistic activity. This panel will explore efforts to reconceptualize the role of economic predation, that is, practices designed to exploit the vulnerable, and the challenges such practices pose to economic theory and societal well-being. The panel will bring a multidisciplinary perspective to issues underlying consumer protection, labor and employment, personal bankruptcy, and race and debt.
