"We moved up in the rankings six spots. Our articles are published in top ten journals and our professors are cited far more than they were five years ago. We got a 90% alumni giving last year. Our bar passage rate is higher than it has been in the last several years." Which of these, if any, is a reliable measure of law school success?

Why do business schools have numerous forms of evaluation and law schools rely almost exclusively on only U.S. News? There is a growing pressure on law schools to come up with specific measures to assess their progress, but the efforts to date are not very impressive.

How should we assess quality of institutional improvement? Working interactively with the audience, an interdisciplinary panel will present and debate a variety of indicators of assessment.

They will discuss scholarly productivity, student engagement, educational outputs, including careers of graduates and bar passage, developing lawyering skills, and the competing standards used to rank business schools.
