As more law schools make structural changes that move NTT faculty towards equity via a unitary tenure track, our community needs time to reflect on what it means for law schools to make this transition and to make it successful. The challenges are particularly felt by those NTT faculty who are already in role at the time of the structural transition. This discussion session will focus on some of the underexplored challenges and opportunities that arise during the process. We will focus on issues of structural choices law schools may make, resources for these faculty to succeed on the tenure track, the balance of teaching loads between those remaining on NTT and those newly on the TT, and the changing interpersonal relationships of everyone involved. We expect (and hope!) this will be an interactive and lively discussion.
