The Role of Employers in Achieving Universal Health Care Coverage
(Program to be published in Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law and Ethics)

This panel will examine what role, if any, employers should play in achieving universal health care coverage. Employers currently provide health care coverage to a majority of non-elderly Americans. While over 46 million non-elderly Americans are uninsured, nearly 83% of those individuals live in families headed by a worker. As a result, many health care reform efforts are aimed at both increasing the number of workers who are offered coverage by their employer and increasing the number of individuals who elect such coverage. This panel will examine the issues associated with involving employers in health care reform in detail.
