Sessions Description

  • AALS gratefully acknowledges AccessLex Institute for its support of this workshop.

Many law professors choose legal education because they want to have a positive impact on students, pursue justice, and transform the legal system to improve lives and communities, but often face challenges as they join the legal academy.

This workshop is a space where junior faculty can receive support and encouragement as well as concrete guidance on navigating the tenure, promotion, and contract renewal process. Panels of experienced and successful law professors will talk about their goals and achievements as teachers and legal scholars and offer ways to successfully meet challenges as they arise in the context of scholarship, teaching, and sustainability. By bringing together faculty who are navigating similar career paths, the workshop also facilitates cohort relationships that can provide long-term sources of support.
