Sessions Description
-
This timely and relevant program builds on the annual meeting theme of “The Enduring Contributions of Legal Education” and engages participants in a nuanced conversation on the intersections between academic freedom and legal education. The program will highlight how the changing political landscape reflects a sea change within higher education and academic freedom. The impact of modern developments has specific implications for clinics, triggering the rich and complex world of legal ethics and professional responsibility. However, clinical legal education is merely the canary in the coal mine. The direct attacks on clinical programs and faculty merely provide notice of possible future trends within legal education and higher education more broadly. Our program features a panel presentation featuring experts in academic freedom, clinical pedagogy, and higher education in conversation about political interference in Law Schools.
