Sessions Description
-
The generative AI (GenAI) era is upon us and, as professors who teach legal skills, we must embrace GenAI in our classrooms and incorporate it into our curriculum in a manner that is both intentional and meaningful. This discussion group will focus on how to use GenAI to teach legal skills better. We will focus on legal writing, contract drafting, negotiations, and client representation (through clinical work). By the end of the session, we hope to create a professor toolkit that includes the following:
• Different platforms for professors to consider when developing course material and assessments;
• Examples of actual assignments that would be useful for different skills-based courses that incorporate GenAI effectively with clear learning objectives outlined, etc.;
• Suggested prompts for certain functions and objectives;
• A set of best practices to keep in mind when teaching with GenAI and using GenAI;
• Next steps and possible writings and other products for the future on this topic.
