Sessions Description

  • This program provides both an essential forum for our discipline and an educational opportunity for colleagues across the legal academy. Framed around the question of what it means to view legal research and writing as a distinct discipline, it features two presentations. The first, Defining and Defending Legal Writing Scholarship, defines and contextualizes legal writing scholarship within legal scholarship generally and explains how legal writing scholars can defend their work’s importance in promotion and tenure determinations. The second, Critiquing Caste and Conditional Citizenship in the Legal Academy, situates the discipline within broader debates about hierarchy and belonging in legal education.
