Authority and Obligation
The section's program will take up the perennial philosophical debate about legal authority and political obligation. Three distinguished legal and political philosophers, each of whom have made important contributions to the debate, will participate in the panel discussion. Each will present papers examining various aspects of authority and obligation, challenging some of the orthodox positions in the debate while staking out new ones.
