Sessions Description

  • Higher education is a particular target of the current administration. President Trump issued an executive order coercing colleges and universities to terminate “illegal DEI” programs. The NIH severely limited its funding of the indirect costs institutions incur to support federally funded research. The Education Department commenced Title VI investigations against numerous institutions, alleging antisemitism. The ED laid off nearly half of its staff, including staff who administer student loans and process financial aid applications. Recent legislation significantly increases the taxation of certain college endowments. This panel will address the legality of such measures and evaluate their impact on education policy.
