Since first authorized in December 2020, public health officials have promoted the vaccines against COVID-19 as a key tool in the pandemic response. Beginning in the spring of 2021, some businesses and institutions, including the military and universities, began requiring proof of vaccination for employees, customers, and students. Some local governments also required proof of vaccination to access public accommodations. Although COVID-19 has receded somewhat in the public consciousness, the legal disputes regarding vaccine mandates are far from resolved, and may affect mandates for vaccines against other diseases. This panel will explore the latest developments in this area.
