Sessions Description

  • In 2022, the Supreme Court revolutionized Second Amendment doctrine by imposing a test that focuses solely on history & tradition. It is poised to further elaborate on Bruen's test in two new cases this Term: Wolford v. Lopez and US v. Hemani. This panel will unpack the issues these cases raise about the right to carry guns on private property and whether illegal drug users can be disarmed. It will also explore what guidance is still needed from the Justices about how to perform the historical inquiry Bruen mandated.
