Critical Justice: Systemic Advocacy in Law and Society is a new book designed to fill a gap in law school curricula by connecting the dots among systems of oppression that persist across time. With all royalties supporting the LatCrit nonprofit, Critical Justice supports systemic advocacy exercises rooted in insights of the critical schools of legal knowledge, for example, client profile memos and asset and power mapping. In this session, the book authors will discuss the role of critical theory in clinical teaching and discuss various teaching modes that can support effective use of the book (for example developing a standalone cross-clinic add-on course or incorporating exercises into single-clinic lawyering seminars). We will review sample syllabi and provide free online teacher’s access to Critical Justice and the Teacher’s Manual. We will also invite post-conference one-on-one meetings with the book authors.
