Sessions Description

  • For the third year in a row the Internet and Computer Law Section of AALS is partnering with the Law and Technology Workshop (https://thelawtechworkshop.org) to host an in-person meeting of the Workshop during the annual meeting. The Law & Technology Workshop is a monthly virtual series that serves as an intellectual home for scholars working at the intersection of law and technology. In this iteration we will be reading and discussing the works of three up-and-coming technology scholars: (1) Raúl Carrillo, Assistant Professor at Boston College Law, who will present his work "Satellite Finance" (Discussant: Tejas N. Narechania, UC Berkeley Law); (2) Arti Walker-Peddakotla, Hastie Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law, who will present her work "The Obfuscation of Surveillance" (Discussant: Margaret Hu, William & Mary Law); and (3) Ximena Benavides Reverditto, Assistant Professor at University of Georgia Terry College of Business who will present her work “Quantified Progress" (Discussant: Christopher Robertson, Boston University Law).

The section business meeting will be held on Friday, January 9th, from 8am-9:15am at the Ruby Slipper Cafe (200 Magazine St. New Orleans, LA 70130), a short walking distance from the hotel. This will double as both an opportunity to socialize and to discuss section issues. All section members are welcome to join!
