Free and Open Source: Next Generation Issues

Over the past decade legal scholarship about free and open source software (FOSS) has gone from a trickle to a torrent. Scholars have focused on FOSS licensing models, organization, and incentives. Looking forward to the next decade, what will be the issues facing the FOSS community? Will patents remain a threat? Will GPLv3 become ubiquitous? Will new licensing practices emerge? Will the very success of FOSS bring its own issues as large corporations become more prominent in the FOSS community? The panel brings together perspectives from scholars who have been studying FOSS as well as practicing lawyers who have been active in advising clients in the FOSS community. They will discuss the next generation of issues facing FOSS.
