Sessions Description
-
The discipline of environmental law has experienced a decade of tumult, with key regulations repealed or revised and sometimes restored, and dramatic shifts in the underpinnings of administrative law and financing mechanisms. Most recently, programs at the US EPA have been eliminated and the agency may reverse its policies on climate change. Despite these challenges, it is more important than ever to teach environmental law, but how do we do so – and how do we talk about environmental law with our students – when foundational legal protections are being scaled back or eliminated? This session will feature a facilitated discussion about whether a new approach to teaching environmental law, from changes in course content and methods of instruction to changes in experiential learning practice, is needed to inspire and prepare the next generation of environmental lawyers to protect human health and the quality of our shared environment.
