As student affairs professionals working on the frontlines, our daily lives are conducted in a dynamic and constantly evolving field which is regularly and inevitably affected by changes in legislation, the enactment of new regulations, judicial opinions, and current headlines of the day.  This session will provide updates and provoke discussion of the latest and hottest of topics affecting all of us, whatever those topics might be as of January 2010.  FERPA?  The Americans with Disabilities Act?  Changes in federal financial aid policies? What about the influx of veterans into our law schools with their unique set of issues? Or maybe other yet unknown topics, that will become “hot,” depending on how the extraordinary year of 2009 unfolds.

In addition, we invite you as a conference participant to bring examples of  your own "transformative moments" to share; that is, occasions when you have helped a student turn a moment of crisis into a positive outcome or when you yourself have been transformed by a moment, an event, or a student situation.  We can all learn so much from each other's experiences in the trenches!
