Election outcome denial and political violence in the U.S. challenge not just the rule of law, but the future of multiracial democracy. Political scientists, sociologists, technologists, and other scholars are chronicling increased anxiety over changing demographics, a rise in white identity politics, zero-sum competition between different communities for political influence, racialized disinformation, and related phenomena. Unfortunately, the Court, Congress, state legislatures, and most laws governing politics and tech platforms were not designed to grapple with these challenges. The goal of this session is for panelists and attendees to sketch out the roles of law and legal scholars in building a well-functioning multiracial democracy.
