As we approach the 70th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, we are inviting attendees to envision how we might fulfill the promises of the seminal case. This program offers radical interpretations of the landmark decision from the perspective of children as legal subjects. These interpretations of Brown expand our understanding of young people’s rights, identities, freedom of thought, privacy and equal protection of laws. We invite scholars to engage with one another to offer novel ways to apply the message of Brown-- including its meaning, legacy and unfinished business of safeguarding the hearts and minds of all children and to dismantling the intersecting systems and structures that result in the economic and racial inequalities between and among children.
