Three panelists will discuss papers in contract and property theory that address the appropriate objectives and legitimacy criteria of the marketplace. We will put the papers in conversation with one another. Themes in our discussion will include the demands of equality, the moral mandate for economic growth, and the nature of market domination. We expect a wide-ranging open debate about questions that link 1L foundational courses with live questions around how to organize and govern the market.
