This workshop focuses on
how the local emergency response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic facilitated a
legal – social service partnership that also resulted in the University of
Wisconsin’s Eviction Defense Clinic. The clinic was created to
maximize housing stability by decreasing eviction and displacement through free
legal representation for tenants in high-risk households. This session
will unpack the priorities, strategies, successes, and obstacles faced by the
clinician of color and the social service agency in the development of the
community-based clinic and eviction prevention partnership.
