Hon's Honey was founded by Mandy Memmel to support, empower and equip women of Baltimore as a workforce development program and social enterprise of The Well – a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to giving back dignity and purpose to women survivors of trauma— abuse, addiction, human trafficking, incarceration and generational poverty. Before being employed at Hon’s Honey, women commit to a holistic healing process through a life development program, free counseling, workshops and building community at The Well, which serves about 800 women each year. At Hon's Honey, our production space is called "The Hive," and our production specialists lovingly refer to themselves as "Worker Bees" – here, women learn about bee keeping and skills used in retail and non-profit management. They also craft and sell artisanal local honey products, candles, soaps, beauty products and home accessories. They are fully invested in the vision of Hon’s Honey and are active in The Well's COR Life Development program, where they are equipped for personal growth, to provide for their families, and to lead in their community. Some Worker Bees will remain with Hon's Honey long-term and move into management positions as we grow. Others will use Hon's Honey as a stepping stone to pursue other opportunities they are passionate about.
Current members of the Hon’s Honey team will bring a pop-up shop to the conference, some unique local honeys and honey products for tasting, and an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the work of Hon’s Honey empowering women in transforming their lives and communities. A limited number of products will be available for sale during the community gathering, and additional purchases (and donations) can be made at https://www.honshoney.com/. 100% of profits employ women survivors of trauma— addiction, sex trafficking, generational poverty and abuse. Your purchase has a purpose; it paves the way for women to rebuild their lives.
Please join us and register in advance if you can – attendance will be capped at 30.
