A walking tour/field trip to several Manhattan public art installations precedes this panel discussion. The field trip will depart from the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel at 10:00 am and return by 11:50 am. The field trip is complimentary to all who sign up, due to the generosity of the University of Washington School of Law.
Drawing on the dynamic concept of infraculture, this panel will explore creative legal approaches that have emerged to revitalize metropolitan areas with cultural assets. Topics to be addressed by the panelists include percent-for-art ordinances, the concept of the urban commons, the public costs of P3, and VARA’s influence on whether and how artists collaborate with state and local governments.
