This panel brings together scholars to explore how African perspectives inform and shape how we understand international human rights. The panel considers the limits and emancipatory potential of international human rights law for addressing African rights' priorities. Panelists' engagement with critical topics in contemporary international human rights reveals both innovation and contradictions within the international human rights regime. Scholars featured in this panel help to illuminate African contributions in ways that help us to rethink and expand the normative scope and content of human rights.
