The panel will explore recent developments involving the politicization of primary and secondary public schools through legislation, policy, and political campaigns targeting public school curricula including anti-critical race theory proposals; anti-LGBTQ+ efforts; book bans; protests against COVID-19 vaccines, masking and testing requirements; and threats to school board members, teachers, and others. It will examine the legal implications and the impacts on students and the educational process, as well as for teachers, parents, administrators, and government actors.
