This Works-in-Progress (WIPs) session addresses the often-overlooked role of race in private law, including areas such as contract law, corporate governance, tax, intellectual property, and securities regulation. While race is frequently discussed in relation to criminal justice or civil rights, racial disparities also persist in private law, influencing doctrines and practices that perpetuate systemic inequalities. Panelists will explore topics like racial disparities in corporate governance, intellectual property, and securities regulation, as well as intersectional analyses of race and gender. This session encourages critical dialogue and innovative approaches to promote equity in private law.
