Herma Hill Kay was hired by Berkeley Law in 1960. By her count, she was the 15th tenure-track female law professor to be hired by an ABA/AALS school. For the last 30 years of her life, she focused on a book project, in which she tells the stories of the first 14 women law professors hired at ABA/AALS schools. She included a final chapter of stories of women hired by law schools in the 1960s and beyond. Ruth Bader Ginsburg wrote a very moving Foreword to the book. This panel will discuss both Herma’s legacy and her book.
