Diverse set of legal teachers, from a variety of teaching areas, experiential and doctrinal, across various dimensions of difference, will discuss strategies for more holistic teaching that is effective for learners of all backgrounds. Panelists are co-authors of the new book, How to Account for Trauma and Emotions in Legal Teaching (Kaur & Harris, eds., Edward Elgar, 2024). Panelists will share their journeys with centering trauma in their classrooms and institutions, before engaging in various hypothetical scenarios. As we contend with global challenges, how might we better support the success of students from minoritized groups, including first generation students and those impacted by multiple traumas? Addressing emotions is also timely given the ABA’s revised standards around "professional identity" development.
