This program discusses a proposed Lawyers Justice Corps (LJC), a new pathway for law licensure available to graduates who commit to a year of working for a legal services organization. Using both academic analysis and models, and work being done in Oregon and elsewhere, the program develops a blueprint for a licensure pathway in which graduates would work under supervision of public service lawyers and submit portfolios of redacted work product to bar examiners. Session attendees will learn about the LJC and will participate in a discussion of concrete steps law faculty can take to create meaningful and important systemic change that will positively impact access to justice and will address the historical inequities of the existing bar exam.
