Recent global health and political crises have impacted the legal community worldwide in ways that demanded an immediate change in legal education and practice, and the ability to create programs to help members of Afghan, Ukrainian, and other communities qualify as lawyers and deal with immediate legal educational and practical needs. Whether practitioners, judges, or students, we had to pivot into this new reality, in which live client meetings, court appearances, and legal education were replaced by remote and hybrid communication and relationships. In the present and going forward, we must take into account political concerns when we communicate about law practice and legal education as well. To succeed, we must treat these changes as “silver linings” and continue to use them going forward. This program will discuss how global legal education and practice have been impacted by recent crises and provide insight into how legal professionals are successfully tackling these challenges.
