In the wake of another astoundingly expensive election season in which wealthy donors and Super PACs played a major role, and increasingly novel financial arrangements between candidates and their supporters were employed, this program examines the effects of campaign spending and campaign finance law on American democracy. Panelists will discuss current controversies over political spending, the prospects for legal reform at the federal or state level, and whether the vast sums of money in circulation compromise or promote effective governance.
