JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) principles have been recognized as valuable in the legal education setting but practitioners still struggle with how to incorporate JEDI as a fundamental aspect of pedagogy. The nature of clinical work provides a unique opportunity to bring JEDI into the classroom and empower students to be thoughtful, nuanced, and compassionate attorneys. This session will provide clinicians with specific tools and activities to make JEDI principles the backbone of their clinical teaching environment throughout the semester. Building upon last year’s Implicit Bias 201 workshop, panelists will move attendees through their semesters to plan for and highlight opportunities to bring JEDI methodologies into their teaching styles.

This session will provide hands-on tools to assist clinicians in creating a learning environment that is conducive to JEDI through relationship building between the clinician and students and among the students themselves. Participants will navigate interactive activities and learn how to foster an inclusive and welcoming intellectual space while having fun and building connections.
