National attention to the problems of adult guardianship has heightened over the last several years with coverage of the Britney Spears case. Guardianship impacts older adults and people with disabilities of all income levels and is often imposed without full consideration of the alternatives. An unethical or neglectful guardian can have disastrous consequences for people subject to guardianship, including loss of housing, health care, and income. Join us for a brainstorming session for clinicians interested in reforming adult guardianship and in creating more opportunities for alternatives to guardianship like supported decision-making.
