The banking industry has faced at least two major crises over the past 15 years, and this year has seen multiple banks fail. The picture is of an industry perpetually on the brink of disaster. At the same time, the industry has been asked to take on new roles as a sanctions enforcer, climate fighter, and dispenser of government largesse. This panel will survey how an industry under stress has sought to cope with the stresses and new responsibilities and consider how it got there.

The Section held a virtual business meeting prior to the Annual Meeting.
