The panel will be interested in the question, “What counts as legal scholarship today?” This is really three questions folded into one: What is legal scholarship, and what do/should law schools count as scholarship? Related subjects include the question: What should count as scholarship for various purposes, including citation metrics (for instance the new US News rankings), tenure and promotion, the broader functions of legal scholarship, and the intrinsic value of idea-generation? Other subjects of interest include publishing in digital media.
