In our polarized times, many law schools and universities have had to work hard both to encourage free expression and maintain students’ sense of safety and support. Notable incidents, over Israel-Palestine and DEI initiatives to name two, have tested law schools’ capacity to strike that balance. However, many law schools have successfully navigated these challenges. This panel will bring together faculty and administrators whose efforts have resulted in community conversations that embrace respectful disagreement while giving most students the sense that they are supported, included, and valued.
