    Legal scholars have proposed the use of restorative justice (RJ) to reform legal systems, but does RJ really work? This “theory-meets-practice” session will examine RJ programs being implemented and evaluated in court-based settings. The directors of two robust RJ programs—Restorative Response Baltimore and the Restorative Justice Program at the D.C. Office of the Attorney General—will describe their programs. Faculty discussants will then lead a conversation about the promise and risks of court-based RJ programs, and the important questions for RJ theory and practice as other courts develop and institutionalize RJ programs.
