Elections in the United States are both deeply decentralized and subject to some degree of uniform federal oversight. Recent disputes over the Voting Rights Act, campaign finance disclosure, the "independent state legislature," electoral subversion, and the Electoral Count Act have highlighted the tension between local and federal control. This panel will explore recent developments on these topics, pending Supreme Court and lower court litigation, and a look at the legal landscape ahead of 2024.
