Corporations and corporate law have something to say about the most hot-button modern-day social issues. Issues often thought to be considered through legislation and regulation—such as the right to reproductive healthcare, climate change, campaign finance, and more—have cropped up in corporate law through cases, shareholder proposals, and other avenues. This panel explores the intersection of corporate law and democracy. How have corporate law and corporations shaped modern-day social movements? How should they? And what are the implications for democracy of engaging in social change via corporations and corporate law?
