The decline of civic engagement and civility in American society has coincided with the erosion of civics education over the past seven decades. Today, ensuring that law students can overcome deficits in civic education, that may hinder law school learning, and develop a civic identity as part of their professional identity, is an emerging challenge for legal educators.
This session takes place on the third anniversary of the January 6 insurrection and will share strategies on courses, programs, and everyday engagement to support students during the 2024 federal election cycle. It also comes at a time of intense discourse on campuses regarding the Middle East which will also be a central issue during the election.
