Like many European universities (particularly through the ambitious Erasmus program of the European Union for promoting mobility of students and academics), the University of Paris West Nanterre is continuously developing its exchange programs. It has established agreements with partners from other countries for a variety of disciplines, including its law school. Developing partnerships with law schools worldwide is a priority for our law faculty because in our globalized world, studying abroad increases the professional skills and the employability of our students. However, cross-border partnerships are challenging. The differences between legal education models, between the financial means of the institutions (public or private), and between tuition fees create some obstacles to successful partnering. The key to success for this kind of cooperation is to be open, imaginative and always seek to achieve the mutual and reciprocal interests of each of the partners.
