The Legal Services Corporation reports that 92% of civil legal problems faced by low-income Americans are under-served; 53% of those Americans don’t believe they could find an affordable lawyer. Law school clinics, institutes, and other programs have moved beyond the traditional curriculum to implement innovative technologies to give hands-on, experiential training to the next generation of students–many of whom will be the next solo, small, and legal aid lawyers on the front lines of the A2J crisis. This session will spotlight particular innovative programs and share details about how they’ve worked successfully alongside the traditional law school doctrinal curriculum.
