In recent years, legal and scholarly debates have intensified over the role of religion in civil society. These debates touch on institutions that are central to children’s lives. For instance, we are experiencing a time of momentum in proposed and enacted legislation involving religion and education, adoption, child welfare, and medical care. The U.S. Supreme Court is set to decide cases on public funding for religious schools and whether faith-based adoption and foster care agencies can reject LGBTQ+ families. This panel calls for scholars to explore intersections of religion and children’s issues from a variety of perspectives.
