This panel will examine the often-overlooked intersections of race and various private law domains, including contracting, corporate governance, tax, securities regulation, and intellectual property. While discussions on race frequently focus on criminal justice and civil rights, the role of race in private law remains underexplored. This panel aims to unveil unconscious biases in legal practices and promote equity within both practice and academia. By addressing racial disparities in corporate decision-making, access to intellectual property, and other private law areas, the panel seeks to foster critical engagement with systemic inequalities.
