The harmonized trading system of the World Trade Organization was built on an underlying ideology that egalitarian access to health is a barrier to trade and that disparate access to health was the solution to innovation. The global struggle with the coronavirus pandemic has highlighted that protecting public health is the threshold to protect and promote robust global trade. This panel will focus on global trade via-a-vis public health in the post-COVID world, changing contours of innovation and the role of World Trade Organization where COVID-19 has presented the globe with a variety of opportunities, challenges, and hurdles hitherto unknown.
