Our new Leaffer Border Justice Initiative provides exciting learning opportunities for students at the University of New Mexico School of Law. Our first year LAB class, Leaffer Border Justice Externships, Community Lawyering Clinic section, and career services office facilitate collaboration among alumni, courts, and nonprofit organizations to give students opportunities to build foundational lawyering skills as they serve and learn. Students and alumni are addressing problems at the southern border by providing direct representation to immigrants and the nonprofit organizations representing them, by returning property to children and families who have been deported, and through other collaborative efforts.
