Within the past 18 months, the ABA has made several proposals to revise Standard 405, dealing with security of position.  This has led to comments and discussions about the viability of tenure for research faculty as well as the desirability of giving security of position protections “reasonably similar to tenure” to all full-time faculty.  The panel, made up of deans, tenured and tenure-track research faculty, as well as non-tenure track skills faculty, will detail the latest ABA proposal and engage in a robust discussion of the academic need for employment security.
