This is a two-panel session. The
first will feature Dr. Leonard Wood, who recently published a book on legal
education in modern Egypt, and another scholar who will offer some reflections
on the work and engage in conversations with the author as well as the
audience. The second panel wil discuss asylum and refugee rights in Islamic
law. The Muslim world today is currently experiencing the greatest rate of
refugee movement in the world. This will allow us to explore historical and
contemporary discourses on migration and refugee rights.
Business meeting at program conclusion.
