    This panel addresses cutting-edge issues pertaining to cybersecurity and privacy. Topics to be discussed include developments in the commercial spyware industry that bring together ethical and legal issues at the intersection of cybersecurity, privacy, and national security; new barriers faced by digital trade in the form of national security concerns over data, leading to the question of whether a global internet is still possible in the face of rising fears of national security risks; and emerging risks related to AI technology, including questions about unacceptably risky technologies and dangerous consequences of data surveillance coupled with propaganda.
