New data has shown not just the immediate effects of criminal abortion laws but also structural, long-term impacts of these laws. These less discussed, but no less critical, issues are becoming apparent in real time as information about economic, health, and legal effects emerge. Participants will discuss topics such as the failure to fully train OBs in ban states and what that means for care deserts, the significant increases in intimate partner violence in restrictive states, and emboldened use of criminal law to police pregnant people, among other topics.
